Registration is very good. There are two chips missing on the spine. These chips do not go all the way thru the cover, but rather a few layers of the paper. The bottom staple is pulled and there are some small scuff marks by the bottom staple. Pencil "W" on the right side of "Detective". Bindery corner on the lower spine. This book looks like a NM because there is very little visible wear on the cover and the book has a striking appearance. The cover has vivid colors, full reflectivity and the pages are extremely well preserved (off-white - OWL 9). When you focus in a bit more, you will notice a 1/4" tear at the top right of the cover and a dust shadow at the right edge (that, for some reason, is not as noticeable on the book itself as it is on the scan). There is a 1/4" x 1/8" piece off the left edge of the back cover and a 1/4" x 1/4" stain at the bottom of the back cover (both can be seen on the scan). The top staple is recessed and the staples are detached at the back cover. They can easily be reattached, however, by a restoration expert without decreasing the value of the book (actually, it would probably increase the value of the book by much more than it costs). The defects do not significantly detract from the overall excellent appearance of this book. I would call the restoration moderate as the spine has been rebuilt, there is a piece added to the top corner, and there is some filling at the edges. It is definately professional work - probably done by Cicconi or Wilson. The work is difficult to detect and would most likely be missed by the untrained eye. The scan does not do this book justice.
